PADDLE IMUA 2023

JULY 23, 2023

WE RACE IN SUPPORT OF CAMP IMUA

Paddle Imua is an annual multiple-discipline paddle race in support of Camp Imua, a week-long recreational camp experience for children with special needs. Paddle Imua brings the ocean sports community together to celebrate the lives of these children by embracing our connection to the ocean.

This progressive ocean-community event is made possible by support from numerous athletes, volunteers, and the generosity of Maui businesses. Held on Maui’s legendary Maliko Downwind Run, Paddle Imua welcomes athletes who paddle Stand-Up Paddleboards (SUP), Outrigger Canoes (OC1, OC2 & OC6), Prone Paddleboards, Surf Skis, SUP Foil, Prone Foil, Wing Foil, Windsurfing, Kiting, and Sailing.

Imua is a Hawaiian word meaning “to move forward,” and is referenced frequently in relation to water and paddling. Paddle Imua itself embodies the spirit of Imua, providing the funding and support to help move Camp Imua forward to better to serve its youth participants with special needs. Participants in the race will have the opportunity to meet the children they’re impacting through the ʻOhana Festival at the finish of the race. The children of Camp Imua are always excited for the opportunity to see the many water craft, and the valuable exposure to the numerous athletes and participants helps provide them with inspiration to live out their dreams.
