Camp Imua is an incredible Maui tradition that began in 1976 and brings the community and children with special needs together for a free week-long, overnight recreational camp each summer. Held this year at Camp Keanae, 50 campers and 150 volunteers will come together for a week of crafts, games, swimming, helicopter rides, zip-lining, and general fun, all while making new friends and catching up with old. The generous support of local businesses and individuals greatly contribute to Camp’s continued success.
Each year, Camp Imua achieves three key outcomes:
- It gives school-age children with special needs opportunities to try new activities and connect with others in a safe and supportive environment.
- It gives our over 150 volunteers opportunities to connect with the children, build leadership skills, and give back to the community.
- It gives the children’s caregivers much needed time off from what is typically 24-hour care for their children.
