Paddle Imua

Sunday, July 17-19, 2020 – We Race in Support of Camp Imua

Paddle Imua is an exciting annual multiple-discipline paddle race that raises funds to directly support Camp Imua, a week-long recreational camp experience for children with special needs ages 6-16 years. Paddle Imua brings the ocean sports community together to celebrate the lives of these children by embracing our connection to the ocean.

This progressive ocean-community event continues to be made possible by support from numerous athletes, volunteers, and the generosity of Maui businesses. Traditionally held on Maui’s legendary Maliko Downwind Run,  Paddle Imua welcomes athletes who paddle Stand-Up Paddleboards (SUP), Outrigger Canoes (OC1 , OC2 & OC6), Prone Paddleboards and Surf Skis. New Classes in 2020 will be Foiling SUP and Prone Foil as well as Wing Surfing. Windsurfing and WindFoil will join the Sailing Class. For 2020, we are offering up the Global Challenge, where you can join the event from anywhere in the world and participate in the 10 mile race close to home, or from wherever you happen to be. More RACE DETAILS HERE.

Paddle Imua creates a physical embodiment of the Hawaiian word Imua (‘to move forward’) which comes from references to the water and paddling. Paddle Imua is literally meant to help move Camp Imua forward for many years to come, by providing ongoing funding to support their youth participants with special needs and to help continually expand and improve it. One of the unique aspects of this competition is that competitors are given the opportunity to interact with the children of Camp Imua at the finish of the race, giving the children valuable exposure to water sports and inspiration to live out their dreams.
